Field Update

Fields and facilities update

In the fall of 2014, the Oldham Soccer Club (OSC) began an aggressive program to renovate fields at the Oldham Soccer Park (game complex), and to open a new training site to alleviate  stress on the Soccer Park fields due to overuse. Following is a summary of where we are in the process:

  • The renovation of Soccer Park fields is approximately half done.
  • The purchase of tractor and attachments has given OSC volunteers the opportunity to self-perform a portion of the work, saving money that would have been paid to outside contractors.
  • A parking lot expansion is underway as contractors deposit fill in areas adjacent to the existing parking lot.
  • In late 2015, OSC received a $10,000 grant from the Head foundation for the fields development program.
  • The OSC Training Center is open, but on a limited basis. Excavation work, funded by the head Foundation grant, is complete.  We will begin to move more teams to the Training Center in the spring, 2016.
  • Long range plans include purchase of some new self-standing goals, allowing us to change location of goal boxes as they wear. Also planned is the eventual paving of the parking lot.
